Blue Chilli – Phnom Penh

bluechili1Really nice and friendly gay bar in Phnom Penh. The owner, Oak, is a wonderful person and will make you feel really welcome. It’s a very popular place, especially on Fridays and Saturdays when they have a ladyboy show. Frequently the star of the show is Oak himself. It’s popular with the expats and Khmer’s alike and there are plenty of lads around looking for “fun” with newcomers. Good place to visit.

Heart of Darkness – Phnom Penh

One of the most well-known Clubs in Cambodia, drawing a mix of tourists, locals and expats. Very stylish place, sporting a Khmer-baroque flare that’s now common in Phnom Penh. there’s music, dancing, cocktails, beer, continuing till near dawn. Busiest after midnight. Packed sardine-tight on Friday and Saturday evenings.

Very slightly AYOR

The Local 2 – Sissowath Quay, Riverside, Phnom Penh

localTHE LOCAL RIVERSIDE is a stones throw from the main drag of Sissowath Quay. Its location lends itself to a quieter array of foot traffic, street noise and panhandling, yet only seconds from the vibrant Riverside promenade and Tonle Sap river.

Riverside is a popular and vibrant area in Phnom Penh, consisting of multinational restaurants and bars – always nice to sit and watch the world go by! A local Khmer market, Psar Kandal is on the same street. Here you can get a feel for a real Cambodian, non-touristy market.

Take a leisurely walk along the beautiful Riverside promenade to The Royal Palace, National Museum, Silver Pagoda and other attractions. Central market, Wat Phnom and the night market are also within walking distance.

The Tonle sap river is just 100m away and here you can buy food from street vendors and watch local dance performances.
