Cockatoo Resort & Restaurant – Siem Reap

cockatoo1Set in tranquil tropical gardens, yet only minutes away from the city center, The Cockatoo Resort & Restaurant is the hotel of choice for the discriminating traveler in Siem Reap. From here, you can explore Angkor Wat and other monuments of the ancient Khmer Empire in comfort and style. The Cockatoo is only 15 minutes by car to the Angkor Archaeological Park, where most of the historic sites are located. In addition, it is just around 10 minutes on foot to the Old Market and Pub Street, Siem Reap’s main hub for shopping, dining and nightlife. Unique among Siem Reap hotels, The Cockatoo is a travelers’ haven that harks back to the days when travel was filled with adventure and romance.

cockatoo2At The Cockatoo you get away from the din of modern life and find tranquility in a natural sanctuary. At one end of the infinity pool stands an open thatch-roofed pavilion where you can escape from the cares of the world – or link up with someone across the globe through the resort’s free Wi-Fi.  At the other end of the pool are wooden sundecks where you can sunbathe, perhaps refreshed with a tropical fruit smoothie from the poolside Noa Noa Tropical Bar & Restaurant. With no tall buildings around, here you enjoy a sense of wide-open space, an increasing rarity in our modern cockatoo3world. At night, the resort slumbers under a canopy of stars or awash in luminous moonlight, with the silence broken only by a “symphony” of nocturnal sounds from nature.

Viroth’s Restaurant – Siem Reap

viroth6This is wonderful food set in a magnificent surrounding. The walled restaurant is on a main road, but you’d never think so from the peace and quiet inside. Gay owned and managed. The staff are attentive and the food makes tangos on your tongue. It’s a place to visit any time you’re in Siem Reap. Try the bean salad as a starter. We could not recommend a main course – so many are wonderful. Walking distance from Viroth’s Hotel.
